Four Signs of a Faulty A/C

• Weak or No Airflow: This is the most obvious of all the signs. When you turn on your A/C and it seems to blow with low power or isn’t responding, don’t just conclude that the gas needs to be refilled. While this may be the problem, it may signal a clogged air filter or a broken blower fan. To avoid further issues, report this to a professional immediately.
• Warm Air: Similar to a weak blow, if your A/C seems to be blowing the sun’s air into your car, that could mean a problem with the compressor or a leak in the hose. Indeed, most A/Cs don’t get cold immediately when you turn it on (depending on the external temperature of the car). But usually, the air should cool down after about a minute or two of turning it on. If it remains warm, turn it off immediately and schedule an appointment with the technician.
• Foul Odors: This is common with drivers who rarely use their A/C. If you haven’t used this system in a while and you’re suddenly welcomed with a foul smell, turn it off immediately. While it may signal a small problem, like a dead animal stuck in the system, it may also mean problems with the evaporator. Besides, taking in contaminated air is a health risk.
• High Fuel Consumption: If you drive your car often, the odds are that you already have a vague idea of how much fuel takes you around. So, if suddenly you notice the fuel burning much faster than usual, it’s best to report it to a professional car service technician. It may not be the engine or the fuel pump. It may be because of an A/C problem.

Usually, a thorough service consists of the following steps:

• Cleaning: The first stage is to clean all parts of the car that may be clogged with dirt or debris.
• Replacement of the Air filter: Damaged or not, the technician will replace the air filter with a new one to ensure that the A/C continues to work without any problems.
• Gas Refill or Replacement: If the old gas is contaminated, the gas in the car may either be topped up with more gas or completely replaced.
